![]() The Doctor is alone and frightened, but blustering through this “torture chamber” with quips, and often, meditative soliloquies about the nature of mortality. Other than a few brief lines from Coleman, the majority of the episode is a career-defining, chilling solo performance from Peter Capaldi, narrating his journey, taunting his unseen captors, confiding in the recently deceased Clara, but also speaking to us. ![]() Peter Capaldi’s Doctor contemplates the meaning of life and death. “I just watched my best friend die in agony, my day can’t get any worse,” Capaldi bellows at the start. “Heaven Sent” is Episode 11 in Season 9, and picks up just after the events of the previous episode, “Face the Raven.” In that episode, the Doctor’s companion Clara (Jenna Coleman) died before the Doctor’s eyes, which is what motivates his rage at the start of this episode. In “Heaven Sent,” the Doctor teleports into a haunted castle, designed by an outside force, with one intention: to scare him to death. The Doctor doesn’t just travel in time and space righting wrongs, they also fight monsters. Here’s why Who never topped this one and why it’s one of the best hours of sci-fi TV in the 21st century.Īlthough Doctor Who is primarily thought of as a quirky time travel adventure series, what casual fans tend to forget is that some of the classic foundations of Who are also rooted in horror tropes. And yet, on November 28, 2015, in the penultimate episode of Season 9, Doctor Who released what is easily the best standalone entry in the series ever. After back-to-back youthful and energetic Doctors from 2006 through 2013 ( David Tennant, Matt Smith) the Doctor regenerated into an irascible crank, a kind of throwback to earlier versions of the long-running sci-fi series. If Peter Capaldi is not your favorite version of the Doctor in Doctor Who, that’s understandable.

Having a loving and affectionate relationshipĪs a final paragraph, sum up why you think the parent is the best candidate for receiving custody.Judges are frequently more interested in the child’s day-to-day welfare. You don’t necessarily have to include events where the parent proved their devotion under extraordinary circumstances. In the next one to two paragraphs, describe two or three of the items from your brainstorming list. Mentioning your relationship to the parent. It also isn’t necessary to write an overly long letter. Writing a Character Reference for Child Custody – The Proper Format and Message It should be written in your own voice, which will depict a level of honesty and care you have for the parent you are writing about. Remember to keep the tone of the letter friendly and conversational. A character reference for child custody does not need to be written in a formal, business tone. This will also help you develop a sense of authenticity as you are writing the letter. For example, looking at your list you might conclude that the relationship is warm, loving, and stable. You do not have to describe each example in the letter, but each instance may help you to distill the relationship between parent and child. Begin by considering examples of behavior between the parent and child that you have witnessed. Where to Begin When Writing a Character Reference for Child Custodyĭoing some brainstorming before writing the letter usually makes the process much easier. Later, the parent’s attorney may decide which one to submit or may choose to submit several. The parent seeking custody may want to ask a few individuals to write a reference letter. One should only write a letter if he/she genuinely believes that the parent requesting is a positive addition to the child’s life. However, just because a parent asks someone to write a character reference for child custody does not necessarily mean that the person should agree. Other people that may have enough insight on the parent-child relationship are neighbors and co-workers who have known the family for some time. This is because they have the most credibility, being the ones to witness first-hand the relationship between the parent and child, as well as how the parent has handled the challenges of co-parenting thus far. Typically, the parent seeking custody should ask close friends and family to write character references. Who Should Write a Character Reference for Child Custody? Essentially, a character reference for child custody argues for the parent to be a part of the child’s life. These letters give a judge a more personal, in-depth look at how involved the parent has been, as well as how the parent has positively impacted the child. Just like a reference letter for a job, a character reference for child custody speaks on behalf of a parent – explaining why he or she should have custody of his/her child. ![]() What is a Character Reference for Child Custody? The amino acid sidechains are also directed outward from the strand and alternate between pointing upwards and downwards with respect to the plane of the sheet. Consequently H-bonds are between adjacent strands and perpendicular to the direction of the strand. Two or more beta-strands make a beta-sheet. ![]() Due to the extended nature of the polypeptide it is not possible to form mainchain hydrogen bonds between adjacent residues. Consequently, beta structures consist of straight, fully extended, strands of linked amino acids which are called beta-strands. These particular phi and psi torsional angles generate a building block that is almost a perfect rectangular prism. In all cases each peptide bond is rigid and planar in the trans conformation. In all cases these secondary structures of proteins have characteristic values of the \(\Psi\) and \(\Phi\) torsional angles that are the same for each residue within a particular secondary structure. ![]() Minimizing steric clashes of mainchain and sidechain atoms.Maximize van der Waals interactions of mainchain atoms. These conformations are stable because they: A left-handed alpha helix is also stable, but relatively rare. Only two are commonly observed in proteins, the right-handed alpha helix and beta-structures. Given the possible values of \(\Phi\) and \(\Psi\) angles, many different shapes of the amino acid building block are possible and therefore many different three dimensional structures are possible. If the building block is a perfect rectangular prism, then the structure will remain linear. In the case of three dimensional building blocks that have some degree of curvature on both faces, the two dimensional circular structure becomes a helix. The radius of the circle is related to the degree of curvature. A straight chain occurs if the is no curvature in the block, while a circle will result if there is any degree of curvature. In two dimensions there are two possibilities, either a straight chain or some type of circle (which may or may not be closed). If a series of identically shaped objects are laid end-to-end they will form some type of geometrical structure. In regular secondary structures these angles are the same for each residue, and thus the shape of each building block, or amino acid, is the same. The shape of each block depends on the \(\Phi\) and \(\Psi\) angle of each residue. Proteins consist of a linear chain of amino acids, with each amino acid representing a build block. ![]() Existing cardholders: See your credit card agreement terms. Limited studies have demonstrated a correlation between night shift work and the influencing elements. The full spectrum of issues related to obesity among nurses is an important topic of research. However, Miller et al7 acknowledged that this is just an assumption, and no research was found that had studied this issue. Average nurses who are overweight or obese are less likely to discuss this topic and offer interventions for their patients. They further found that, although 93% of the nurses reported that being overweight or obese were diagnoses requiring intervention, 76% of them reported that they never addressed this topic with their patients.7 Nurses are on the frontlines of patient care and teaching and should model good health practices for their patients. 2 THE HEALTH CARE MANAGER/MONTH–MONTH 2017 they studied were all in the overweight range, with one state bordering on obese. Issues that may lead to serious negative health consequences are sleep deprivation, increased levels of stress, family and social disturbances, unhealthy coping mechanisms, limited exercise, and perceived personal health. Negative health effects and poor health practices seem to be more prevalent with those who regularly work the night shift, compared with their day shift counterparts.
